Convention 2002 The following comment is from an attendee of Convention 2002 I enjoyed the conference. I used to think of homeschool conventions in the realm of what I need to buy for curriculum. I went to so many in other states in my early homeschool days that I figured I didn't need to go anymore. Au contraire! The Homeschoolers of Maine convention is more than shopping. I saw so many people that I know that I just don't see often; it was like a reunion! It is a family atmosphere, held in a family friendly setting. Sunday River in the spring accommodates those who love being outdoors for biking, hiking, roller blading, skiing or snowboarding! The special speakers are inspiring and the workshops for the kids are engaging. It also helps that it is so well organized; I was impressed! Now, I plan to set up my own sock to stash cash for next year. The only difference will be that I will bring the whole family! Yes, it costs a little to stay overnight if you think of it only as a place to buy it without paying shipping. On the other hand, if you view it as a mini vacation for the whole family to gather with other likeminded families, it is a very worthwhile goal to look forward to having a part in! I can't wait for next year! Editor's note: Mark your calendar for Convention 2003! May 9 and 10, 2003
