Maine Home Education Week Celebration at Leonard's Mills!

- 5/28/14 9:00 AM

Mark the calendar for Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 9:00am - 1:00pm, and plan to join homeschoolers from around the state at one of Maine's oldest historical sites, Leonard's Mills, as we celebrate Maine Home Education Week and our ability to homeschool freely, and learn more about our state's history!

Demonstrations, hands-on activities and a wagon ride, all in a re-creation of a logging settlement  typical of 1790, make for a fun and educational field trip!  Demonstrators in period clothing will be making sparks fly in the blacksmith shop, showing furs in the trappers cabin, cooking in the family cabin and weaving in the sawyer's house.

Wagon rides tour the grounds, crossing the covered bridge after passing the water powered saw mill. The ride goes by the field where games and crafts make the day "hands-on."
