Volunteer!

Every year I grow more thankful for those who are fighting the good fight on behalf of faith and freedom. As we look at the world through the media, politics, and the cultural norms today, it may be easy to feel like Elijah did when he cried out to God. He felt like he was the only one serving God. The Lord revealed that he was not alone, that in fact, there were thousands others like him.

Since 1990, HOME has offered us an opportunity to come together as homeschoolers. It gives the ability to realize once again that we are not alone, to learn and grow together in a common cause, and to realize that there are those called by God to fight for us in public so we can be free to live our convictions in private.

HOME’s annual convention is a chance for us to show our support of an organization that supports us as homeschoolers in the great state of Maine. When you attend this year’s convention, you will be sowing financially into an organization that has your best interest at heart. Obviously, you will be sowing into your own family through nationally known guest speakers, access to vendors, and building new relationships. You can also have the opportunity to sow into the legacy of homeschooling beyond your own family. By volunteering to help work at the convention, you are helping HOME connect with families. More than just helping an organization during a busy weekend, you can help put a face to an organization that wants to connect personally with families in Maine. Many are considering homeschooling, some are wading through their first year, others are struggling with finances, confidence, or overwhelming circumstances. A volunteer can make the difference. A smile, a helping hand, and caring ear are sometimes all it takes. As the saying goes, people do not care what you know, until they know how much you care. Would you consider helping HOME care for others?

The bottom line is relationships. Getting involved insures you will not remain one, but joined with others of like heart and faith. From set up, to tear down, helping vendors, opening doors, or answering questions, there is something for anyone. Therefore, whether you could spare an hour or a weekend, we would love to hear from you!

See you at the convention!

Sincerely,

Chris and Tiffany Wilcoxson

Are You the Member of a Local Support Group?

Are you grateful for the vast amounts of time and effort that your support group leader invests in you and the others in the group? Would you like a real great way to show your leader that he/she has your support?

The HOME Annual Convention is a wonderful opportunity for training. Top notch, national speakers, much local talent, an extensive exhibit hall, uplifting music and awesome fellowship—all rolled into one weekend!

Consider, either individually, or as a support group in general, paying for your leader (and their spouse!) to attend. They give so much—give back a little to them! Not only will they benefit, but you will too. It’s a great way to say thank-you.
