Space Day 2002...Adventure to Mars! is the award-winning educational initiative co-chaired by former Senator John Glenn. Space Day 2002 will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2 throughout the United States and around the world. One of the key Space Day educational programs is the Design Challenges which this year will challenge 4th-8th grade-level students to solve problems related to living and working on Mars. For children who are homeschooled, the Design Challenges offers a hands-on opportunity to flex their math and science know-how and talk to kids around the world. Last year, two of the twelve "Stellar" teams that received global recognition were students who were schooled at home. More information and online registration is available at www.spaceday.com in the Design Challenges section of the Web site.
