An exciting partnership with a homeschooler-founded company to support home education in the state of Maine!
With the holidays just ahead, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting partnership to support homeschooling families in the state of Maine. It’s also a chance to highlight a company founded by homeschool graduates working to help families safely navigate the digital age.
COSMO Technologies is a family tech company founded by three former homeschoolers, and this holiday season, we’re partnering together to support families in our state. COSMO’s flagship product is a groundbreaking kids’ smart watch with parent app, an alternative to smartphones that helps families stay safe and connected.
During the months of November and December, COSMO has committed to donating 8% of all website sales of i’s JrTrack 2 kids’ smart watch sold in the state of Maine to Homeschoolers of Maine. That means any purchase helps give back to homeschooling in our state!
We’re so excited for this partnership and to support home education across the nation,” says Russell York, COSMOs Co-Founder and CEO who grew up homeschooled in San Diego. “Our company’s mission is to serve families, support parents, and help keep kids safe. And we are especially passionate about giving back to support the home education community in a special way.”
Today, parents are more concerned than ever about the impacts of technology on the next generation. As more deeply concerning research emerges about the long term developmental and health impacts of screen time and social media, not to mention dangerous and explicit content online, there’s a growing outcry for better options for parents and more protection for kids.
That’s why, last year, during the height of the pandemic, co-founders Russell York and Michelle Ross, took the leap of faith to launch a different kind of tech company with a big mission to help families safely navigate the digital age. York and Ross first met in high school while competing in NCFCA speech and debate and eventually became friends during their undergrad years at Patrick Henry College (PHC). The two founders were joined by fellow homeschool grad and PHC alum Ryan Gilles a few months later.
Together, the team has developed a simple, affordable smartwatch and parent app that lets families stay connected with 4G nationwide calling, messaging, GPS tracking and more, but without any internet browsing, social media, or other more troubling elements of traditional smartphones.
“We think of it as a ‘cyber safety-belt’ for the digital age,” says York. “It’s a simple but powerful way that helps keep families connected and lets parents guide and train kids how to safely navigate the digital world at the right age.”
“Looking back, I’m so grateful for my home education, the training I received, and the supportive homeschooling community around me,” says Gilles, COSMO’s Director of Brand and Marketing. “This initiative, like the company as a whole, is all about giving back and supporting families.”
We love highlighting where homeschool graduates end up - and especially when they end up giving back! So we’re excited to let you know that any JrTrack 2 Kids Smart Watch purchased through COSMO’s website in November or December will be part of a donation back to Homeschoolers of Maine after the year’s end!
